New to Claude Code? Start hereWhat you need before installing anything
You need Claude Code installed and signed in. On a Mac, open Terminal and paste curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash. On Windows, open PowerShell and paste irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex. It needs a paid Claude plan or a Claude Console account.
To open Claude Code: open your terminal (Mac: press Cmd + Space, type Terminal. Windows: open PowerShell from the Start menu), go to your project folder, and type claude.
Two kinds of commands live on this page. If it starts with /, paste it inside Claude Code, in the chat box. If it starts with anything else (claude plugin, npx, uv, specify, graphify), paste it in a normal terminal window, outside Claude Code.
Restart after installing. Close Claude Code and type claude again so the new plugin loads. When a /plugin install opens a little panel, pick the option to install it for all your projects.
Some tools need one helper first. Chrome DevTools MCP and Claude Mem need Node.js (grab the LTS version). Spec Kit and Graphify need uv, a small Python installer: on a Mac run curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh or brew install uv.
From the desk video: 4 plugins that give Claude a manager
Out of the box, Claude Code is a brilliant intern with nobody checking its work. These four are the manager.
Claude writes 200 lines when 50 would do and edits things you never asked about, so this adds four rules: think before coding, keep it simple, change only what you asked, and loop until it's verified.
Claude buries the answer under an essay, so this puts the next action first, numbers the steps, gives time in real minutes, and ends with one next step.
One AI model has blind spots, so Octopus sends your plan to other models (up to twelve, like Codex, Copilot, Grok, or a free local one through Ollama) and flags where they disagree before you ship.
Paste the first two lines in your terminal, then run the setup inside Claude Code.
Paste in Terminal
claude plugin marketplace add https://github.com/nyldn/plugins.git
claude plugin install octo@nyldn-plugins
Paste in Claude Code
/octo:setup
Try it
Paste in Claude Code
/octo:debate Supabase vs Firebase for a small habit tracker app
The models argue it out and you see where they agree and where they don't.
Heads up It sleeps until you type an /octo: command. More
It runs on Mac and Linux (Windows users need WSL) and needs Claude Code v2.1.14 or newer. Extra models only join if you have them: some use subscriptions you already pay for, Ollama is free on your own computer, and API-key providers bill per use. Run /octo:costs before a big job to see what it will cost.
From the tower video: 5 tools that fix how vibe coding breaks
Vibe coding breaks in three ways: Claude forgets your project, invents code that doesn't exist, and can't see its own bugs. One floor per problem.
Paste in your terminal. This creates a new project folder and opens Claude Code in it.
Paste in Terminal
uv tool install specify-cli
specify init my-app --integration claude
cd my-app
claude
Try it
Inside Claude Code, one line at a time.
Paste in Claude Code
/speckit-constitution Keep the code simple and easy for a beginner to read.
/speckit-specify Build a habit tracker where I tick off daily habits and see my weekly streak.
Then run /speckit-plan, /speckit-tasks and /speckit-implement, one at a time. Read what each step wrote before you run the next.
Restart Claude Code, type /mcp, pick Context7 and sign in when your browser opens. No API key needed.
Try it
You, to Claude
use context7 to show me how to set up middleware in Next.js 15
Claude looks up the current Next.js docs before it answers, so the code matches today's version.
Heads up This plugin route needs no Node.js. More
Another option in your terminal is npx ctx7 setup --claude, which needs Node.js 18 or newer. The docs come from the community, so the odd page can still be off.
Start your app, then swap in the address it runs on.
You, to Claude
Open http://localhost:3000, check the console for errors, take a screenshot, and fix what's broken.
A Chrome window opens on its own and Claude reports what it found.
Heads up Needs Node.js (LTS) and Google Chrome. More
Claude can see everything in that browser, so don't log into personal accounts there. Google collects usage stats by default, and the README shows how to switch that off. Prefer a plain MCP server? Run claude mcp add chrome-devtools --scope user npx chrome-devtools-mcp@latest in your terminal instead.
Work on your app for a bit, close Claude Code, open it again, and ask:
You, to Claude
What did we work on last session?
Claude should already know what you built, so you skip the re-explaining.
Heads up Needs Node.js 20 or newer. More
The installer asks you to sign in by email (no card) and starts a 30-day free trial of its hosted memory helper. After that, memory runs on your own Claude plan unless you subscribe. Wrap anything secret in <private> tags to keep it out of memory. Prefer plugins? Inside Claude Code: /plugin marketplace add thedotmack/claude-mem, then /plugin install claude-mem.
claude plugin marketplace add JuliusBrussee/caveman && claude plugin install caveman@caveman
Try it
Inside Claude Code.
You, to Claude
Why does my page reload when I click the submit button?
You get a short answer and the fix, with no warm-up. Me like.
Heads up This plugin version turns on by itself every session. More
Say "stop caveman" to go back to normal. The rules add about 1,000 extra input tokens to every call, so the savings come from shorter replies. Not using the plugin? npx skills add JuliusBrussee/caveman -g works too, then type /caveman.
The order I'd install them in
Superpowers. One line, and it changes how every project starts. If you only install one, make it this.
Context7. No extra software needed, and it kills the fake functions that waste your afternoon.
Chrome DevTools MCP, as soon as you have an app running in the browser. Watching Claude find its own bug is very satisfying.
Claude Mem, once a project takes more than one sitting.
Superpowers and Spec Kit both plan before they build, so pick one. Same for I Have ADHD and Caveman: both change how Claude talks. Save Octopus for when you have a big decision to make.
Questions people ask
Are these plugins really free?
Yes, all ten are free and open source. A few can connect to paid things if you choose: Claude Octopus can call other AI models you already pay for, and Claude Mem offers a 30-day trial of its hosted memory helper. Everything still runs on your normal Claude plan.
Do I need to know how to code to use these?
No. You need to copy a command and paste it in the right place. Lines that start with a slash go inside Claude Code. Everything else goes in your terminal.
Should I install all ten at once?
No. Every plugin adds its own instructions, and unused ones still add startup and context cost. Start with one or two, use them for a week, then add more.
How do I remove a plugin I don't like?
Inside Claude Code, type /plugin and press Tab to reach the Installed tab. From there you can disable, update or uninstall any plugin.
Where Ned does his homework
The tools are free. Knowing what to ask them for is the real skill. Professor Glitch teaches it from zero, in order, inside the community: 8 courses and 200+ lessons. These two are where Ned started.
